Madam, – I am angered that Minister for Education Ruairí Quinn has compared the Government’s current review of educational spending to those undertaken in my home country of Canada (“Quinn pledges spending review”, Breaking News, April 26th). Canada’s provinces do expand and contract education budgets at different times. However, no Canadian education minister would simply state he is refusing all new applications for special education services. This is not an example of a working government, it’s a shut shop. – Yours, etc,
