Sir, - I must disagree with Stephen O'Byrne's criticism of the quality bus corridor system (August 13th). Since their introduction I have found the bus lanes invaluable
(a) for locating a skip in the public thoroughfare; (b) for avoiding those annoying waits (usually caused by other traffic) when driving alone in my high-performance sports car during rush hour; and (c) for avoiding inconveniences such as car-park fees when I want to stop outside any city-centre newsagents to buy the paper and a bar of chocolate (of course this is possible only when I switch on my hazard lights for the buses, Garda cars, ambulances, etc., queueing behind me).
May I take this opportunity to thank Dublin Bus and Dublin Corporation for providing this excellent service, and for refraining from prosecuting me, or indeed anyone else I have ever seen doing these things. - Yours, etc.,
Chris Morris Jnr, Howth, Co Dublin.
