Madam, – Only in this country could a man, forced into resignation for, to put it mildly, expenses largesse, continue in his role as chairman of the Institute for Public Administration, the body we are told, that promotes best practice in public administration.
I wonder sometimes if our political leaders sit in Cabinet and laugh at us. It seems that no insult, no hypocrisy, no act of bald corruption is too much for the people of Ireland to take.
We are told that Mr Rody Molloy received a compensation “package” devised within public sector guidelines. Isn’t this a bit like telling us that being mugged is a demonstration of the mugger’s right to freedom of expression?
Public sector reform is critical, now more than ever. The depressing reality is that the only part of the public sector to be “reformed” will be public sector workers, forced into poverty, while Mr Molloy and others will continue to mug the people of Ireland and then, most likely, form part of the highly paid committee to investigate the mugging.
