Madam, - The article by Alva MacSherry on how the French protect their coastline from the greed of developers was most uplifting (Property, August 25th). That a 20-year-old law and numerous environmental groups, with financial assistance from their Government, have succeeded in holding back a concrete tide of apartment blocks is indeed impressive.
This must give hope to the thousands of people protesting against the proposed plans for redevelopment of Dun Laoghaire Baths. Indeed, based on the French idea, the "Save our Seafront" campaign could spread nationwide to protect our entire coastline.
Am I hoping for too much? - Yours, etc,
NOREEN O'BRIEN, Mapas Road, Dalkey, Co Dublin.
