Sir, - Regarding Ken Healy's letter and President Robinson's lack of headwear in the Vatican (March 15th), people do realise that the President is not a religious appointee. However we do expect that she show equal sensitivity for the Catholics who elected her as she has shown for the Moslem community.
How come she chose to doff her shoes when entering the mosque, but failed to observe the protocol of head dress in the Vatican? Incidentally, tradition dictates that men do not wear head dress for formal occasions - state functions, weddings, funerals etc. It's not a sexist concept, just a mark of respect. - Yours, etc.,
