Sir, - As a resident of Tritonville Close, adjacent to the Presbyterian church in Sandymount which is shortly to be demolished, perhaps I may make a few comments. The church has not been used for worship for 20 years. It is riddled with dry rot and a panel of experts has advised the Church authorities that it would be impossibly expensive to preserve. In any case it is a very ordinary Presbyterian church of relatively little architectural interest.

As a result of demolition, funds will become available to build more sheltered accommodation for elderly people of all denominations who are in need of housing. Several residents in the close to whom I have spoken are in favour of demolition. One of them, I may say, is the brother of a well-known Catholic priest. -Yours, etc.,

Robert Greacen, Sandymount, Dublin 4.
