Sir, - I will not sue Ruairi Quinn for his intemperate language (July 5th) but he must be aware that "misrepresentation" has connotations of deliberate dishonesty which may not be apparent in the dictionary definition.
As a mature citizen, not over-endowed with worldly goods, I do place a particular value on my good name and it hurts when a respected politician like Mr Quinn accuses me of misrepresenting his position. If he would read my letter again he would see that I was quoting Quidnunc. I suppose the reality is that I am the softer target and, perhaps, I should not heed gossip, even when it is written under the imprimatur of The Irish Times. - Yours, etc.,
