Sir, - In an age when, in Ireland at least, we are constantly exposed to the politically correct, unoriginal drivel of trendy hacks, Kevin Myers (An Irishman's Diary, January 25) deserves the congratulations of all true liberals. One does not have to share all, or indeed any, of his views to appreciate his reminding us all of our right to express our convictions, however unfashionable they may be. While they very properly champion the rights of all minorities, doctrinaire devotees of political correctness need to be told that journalists and individuals who do not subscribe to every tenet of the PC religion are a threatened minority, too. - Yours, etc.
