Sir, - One views with wry amusement the many instances of memory loss suffered by Fianna Fail public representatives and staff members as the various tribunals take their course.

However, there is one group within society whose memories will not prove to be in any way defective come the next general election. Given the disproportionate number of seats to votes secured by Fianna Fail at the last general election, an ideal opportunity now presents itself to the nurses and their many supporters to teach Mr Cowen and his colleagues the only lesson they understand - the loss of political office.

It is instructive in the week that saw the death of Jack Lynch, to contrast the Fianna Fail of his day, which displayed some semblance of patriotism and integrity, with the tawdry and corrupt amalgam that now masquerades as the so-called Republican party.

The nurses and their supporters must act, in order to consign this collection of political pygmies to the state of electoral oblivion they so richly deserve. - Yours, etc., Tom O'Connor,
