Madam, – Calls by Dublin City Council for those attending the U2 concerts in Croke Park to travel by public transport are no doubt well-intentioned but not sufficiently thought out. Having taken this advice last Friday, I duly travelled by bus and then found myself looking for a taxi, along with thousands more, as it was almost 11.30pm before I left Croke Park as the concert did not finish in time to allow people to reach the city centre to catch the last bus.
No doubt many of the 80,000 concert-goers were unable to afford the cost of a taxi and walked home, exposing themselves to avoidable dangers. It should be a condition of contract for all concerts to end in reasonable time to allow people to take public transport home if they so wish. – Yours, etc,

Madam, – We consider ourselves lucky to be residents near Croke Park. Hurling games and concerts are a joy and we feel privileged to play a small part. However, we cannot understand why helicopters that fly above after events are needed. They are very noisy and do not appear to serve any purpose other than waste money. – Yours, etc,
