Sir, – Why is the Government bothering to fund our universities if it is averse to utilising them as a source of knowledge to aid decision making? The National Institute for Regional and Spatial Analysis (Nirsa) is based at NUIM. It is 29km from the Dáil. I’m sure they even have phones and emails too if the journey was too much of an inconvenience for Dr James Reilly. And guess what they can do in Nirsa? Yes, you’ve got it! They can use Geographic Information Systems, and mountains of data, including some from that big old census we spent a chunk of money on and they can tell you exactly what the most suitable location is to construct these primary care units. I know! It seems so obvious now! Our universities could assist in actual decision-making. Imagine that. – Yours, etc,
