Sir, - Further to articles by Frank McDonald and Frank McNally (August 20th, 21st and 22nd), in relation to the granting of planning permission for 282 houses at Laraghcon, Lucan, west Dublin, the question has to be asked: What does An Bord Pleanβla mean by an acceptable level of traffic safety and convenience? Safe and convenient for whom? Certainly not for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. One wonders if anybody from An Bord Pleanβla experienced the traffic conditions in this area at any time other than perhaps at 6 a.m. on a Sunday.
Having refused permission on two previous occasions, is it not strange that permission has been granted this time? What has changed? Certainly not the planning principles that in formed the earlier decisions.
The consequences of this decision for the Liffey Valley and Lucan Village are far reaching having regard to the precedent created.
Will further generations forgive the rape of their natural heritage? - Yours, etc.,
Mrs Mary T. Eustace, Lower Road, Strawberry Beds, Chapelizod, Dublin 20.
