Madam, – So, having gambled and lost on poor regulation of banks and risky taxation strategies our Government has now found a new gambling venture it wishes to support. Just what Ireland needs. Double or quits? No, it is the Government that should quit. – Yours, etc,
Madam, – With regard to the Minister for Justice and his proposed new regulations for the gambling industry (Home News, December 23rd), is there any reason these could not have been put in place perhaps six years ago to prevent the debacle which has occurred in our banking system?
Or will the new “gambling” regulations apply only to the man or woman putting 50 cent each way on a horse? Surely a case of the last sting of a dying wasp? – Yours, etc,
