Madam, – It is clear that the decision by 700 community pharmacists to stop dispensing drugs to medical card patients next months is a use of bully-boy strong arm tactics to protect their position.
As Liz Hoctor of the Irish Pharmacy Union points out (Opinio, July 2nd), a reduction in services will hit poor, older and more vulnerable patients most.
It is shameful to see pharmacists adopt tactics which use these sections of our society as bargaining chips.
I say let them cut their noses off to spite their face.
