Sir, - The Forum for Peace and Reconciliation has thrown up yet another obstacle that has to be overcome in the search for a lasting solution to the problems of Northern Ireland. One of the main points of the Forum is that any agreed outcome of all party talks would have to be ratified by the people of Ireland, North and South.
Surely the British public have paid dearly for the problems in Northern Ireland. Is it not time for their views to be taken into account? Could I suggest a sameday referendum North and South ,of Ireland and in Britain on any agreed settlement from all party talks and that would be giving power back to the people. - Yours, etc.,
