Sir, - I would like to add my humble voice to those of Government Ministers, IBEC leaders, financial experts and latterly the Central Bank in urging workers to moderate their pay demands so as not to damage our long-term prosperity. In fact, I would like to go one step further and urge all the gardai, nurses, teachers and other public servants who have lease-purchased the top quality cars which are so common on the roads to return them now. Clearly they were bought with the anticipated Tiger-breaking increases in mind but a little public spirit from the public service will save our Tiger for the future.
Give back the BMWs and Mercs, forgo the pay rises, save the country! You did it in the '80s and the '90s. Let the new millennium be no different! - Yours, etc.,
