Sir, - Reading the Fine Art and Antiques section on Saturday, May 2nd, I came across a reference to a sale of watercolours by George Pennefather (not Pennefeather as spelt by your columnist - perhaps he was thinking of Paul, the familiar hero of Evelyn Waugh's novel Decline and Fall). The landscape painter George Pennefather was born in 1905 at Kilworth, Co Cork and was among other things the founder of the Kilkenny Art Gallery Society in 1943. I am currently researching the history of Irish municipal art collections, and would be anxious to contact any relatives of the late Mr Pennefather, or anyone else connected with the establishment of such collections - particularly those of Limerick, Waterford, Kilkenny, and Clonmel. - Yours, etc., Peter Jordan,
