Sir, - I agree with John Taylor when he says that there is still a significant lack of toleration among republicans for British and Ulster culture and traditions. The way to solve this problem, however, is not to throw stones at the police in Drumcree churchyard, but to promote the culture you do believe in. I may be a Southerner, but I love and revere British culture. I can't get enough Shakespeare; I'm always finding new things I enjoy in the poetry of John Keats; Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is my favourite novelist. I can name many British artists - such as Pugin, Reynolds, Dante Gabriel Rossetti - in whom I am interested. If John Taylor is truly as interested in British culture as he claims to be, then he would find me, and plenty of other Southerners, more than willing to help him promote it. - Yours, etc., Kevin J. Dodd,
Ballydoogan, Co Sligo.
