Sir, - The criticism of Archbishop Empey by John Taylor MP is totally unjustified and ill-informed. The Archbishop of Dublin is genuinely trying to help our Church, as we tackle the issue of Drumcree. Remarks such as Mr Taylor's do not help; they are divisive, and I found them repugnant.
We in the Church of Ireland would stand a better chance of solving the problem of Drumcree - for it is a real problem - without such political intervention from Mr Taylor. After all, are politics not the problem in Drumcree? If politics were forgotten on that Sunday in July, I suspect the congregation at that service might not be any larger than on any other Sunday.
