Madam, – I hope that the same crowd that is so critical of the observance of Good Friday and the ban on alcohol sales will be equally critical of the Bank Holidays that often mark religious events in the country. – Yours, etc,
Madam, – Noel Healy (March 30th) uses a quote from Titus to brand those of us who do not profess a belief in the Catholic faith as “detestable, disobedient, and disqualified for any good work”. May I direct Mr Healy to another line in Titus, 3:1 “Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient” and Titus 3:9 “avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law”.
It seems that the book of Titus wishes us to respect and adhere unquestioningly to the ruling of Judge Tom O’Donnell that pubs may open on Good Friday. Of course if Mr Healy wishes to avoid hellfire he can always stay at home or go to Mass. – Yours, etc,
Madam, – Are the head shops allowed to open on Good Friday? – Yours, etc,
