Sir, – Anthony Jordan suggests that it’s good news that a squirrel is visiting his back garden (October 18th). Surely that depends whether it’s grey or red. – Yours, etc,
Sir, – We have a considerable acreage of fields and forestry. In the spring there were a lot of blackbirds and a few thrushes. Since then they have all disappeared, and never even ate our redcurrants or loganberries – unlike in other years.
We are left with a variety of tits, jackdaws, sparrow hawk, magpies, woodpigeons, ravens and even a buzzard. Have all our blackbirds been eaten, or just died? I miss them, and their lovely singing. – Yours, etc,
