Sir, - The last of the original buildings in Cuffe Street (prior to its destruction by Dublin Corporation's road widening scheme) was the Bricklayers' and Stonelayers' Guildhall.
This was one of the oldest guildhalls in use at the time, and, before its demolition, there were assurances that the facade of this historic building would be reinstated, in line with the new street. Almost 20 years later, the site is still a surface car park.
Doe anybody know of the whereabouts of this piece of Dublin's history, and when it will finally be restored to its rightful place? - Yours, etc., David Power
Lucan, Co Dublin.
