Sir, - Surely the underlying principle of democracy throughout the civilised world is "vox populi suprema est". Here in Ireland, Vox McCreevy, Ahern et Harney rules the roost. This trio, together with their Cabinet members, insist in arrogantly overriding the will of the vast majority of the Irish people and once again demonstrating the Fianna Fail version of democracy.
We have grown weary of political scams, blatant examples of cronyism and the gross financial and political favours bestowed on members of the "Golden Circle". The various misconducts of FF governments have cost the Irish taxpayer millions, perhaps hundreds of millions of pounds.
What has happened to election promises of fair and open government? It would seem that, like many pre-election undertakings, they were never intended to be implemented.
Surely now is the time for the Irish electorate to install a clean, fair and open government, devoid of scam and arrogance, and determined to carry out the wishes of the majority - not those of the "Golden Circle". - Yours, etc.,
