Madam, - Call me naive, but I think that, if the chairman of the Dublin board of the GAA or the head of the IRFU was approached by a billionaire who wanted to get involved in replacing a serving team manager, the billionaire would be advised that the GAA and IRFU were democratic organisations with transparent decision-making procedures. Shame on the FAI, once again.
I didn't think it was possible, but I am beginning to feel sympathy for Steve Staunton.
- Yours, etc,
TIM O'HALLORAN, Ferndale Road, Dublin 11.
Madam, - If Denis O'Brien wants to be charitable to Irish causes, then perhaps a better way might be to stay in the country and pay 20 per cent - 41 per cent of his income in taxes, as the rest of us do.
Perhaps then we could have ABA for all the autistic children who need it, and a cystic fibrosis unit for the patients around the country suffering unnecessarily.
- Yours, etc,
CIAN O'CALLAGHAN, St Fintan's Crescent, Sutton, Dublin 13.
Madam, - Denis O'Brien paid Giovanni Trapattoni to come, could he pay Teddy Holland to leave?
- Yours, etc,
KEVIN DEVITTE, Mill Street, Westport, Co Mayo.
