Sir, - I refer to your recent letters regarding the memorial to Captain Noel Lemass at the Featherbed Mountain, Co Dublin. The memorial was badly damaged over the years through acts of vandalism, and Fianna Fail decided some time ago to assess the options of either repairing or replacing it. This assessment confirmed that the only viable option was its complete replacement.
Arrangements were put in place some time ago to procure the necessary materials, and the work of reinstatement will shortly commence and be concluded in the next few months. We had also agreed with the National Graves' Association that it would take this memorial into its care, after its reinstatement by Fianna Fail. - Yours, etc.,
General Secretary,
Fianna Fail,
13 Upper Mount Street,
Dublin 2.
