No theatre access for wheelchair-users

Madam, – On April 14th we placed a picket outside our national theatre, The Abbey, in Dublin.

Madam, – On April 14th we placed a picket outside our national theatre, The Abbey, in Dublin.

In the Peacock, the play No Escapeby Mary Raftery was being performed, but due to those in wheelchairs not being able to access the theatre we could not see the performance, as the building is totally inaccessible to wheelchair users.

Shame on our Government and on the many artists in this country who over the years have done nothing to sort out the access problem for all people to the theatre.

A standing ovation inside was of no use to us outside The Abbey. – Yours, etc,
