Sir, - On a recent visit to New York I was greatly taken by three things:
1. I rarely saw anybody talking on a mobile phone, and not once in a bus or train. (Is it that they have "been there, done that"?)
2. Young people seem to be able to get around without the enormous rucksacks on their backs that cause such chaos in confined spaces here.
3. People speaking on TV do not find it necessary to wave their hands around.
