Madam, – The new penalty points being introduced by the Department of Transport on May 1st are very harsh. Giving five points for non-display of a current NCT disc when there are only two points given for the use of a mobile phone while driving seems totally imbalanced.
Surely the use of a phone is equally or more serious than not having an NCT cert?
The Minister for Transport should make sure that people are notified of the changes when their car is due to be tested.
