Sir, - I have read with interest the recent article by your music critic, Mr Dervan, about the proposed Irish Academy for Performing Arts, and note the controversy which its proposed location is likely to generate.
It seems to me that a solution to please as many interests as possible would be to locate the IAPA in Kildare, where it would be on a main railway line. Thus located, and given a rail service of the quality that we have been promised, it would be convenient for classes and concerts to people, not only from Dublin, but from Cork and Limerick and even to those from Belfast, Galway and Sligo.
If action was taken quickly, land prices might still be such as to place the entire project within a reasonable budget, considering that all disciplines, music, dance, drama could be catered for on one campus. - Yours, etc., William Hofmann,
Kilpedder, Co Wicklow.
