Sir, - Mark Brennock states that German military personnel will be involved in offensive action for the first time since the second World War. This is not the first time. In August 1968, a German army took part in the invasion of Czechoslovakia by Warsaw Pact forces. The resonances with German actions during the second World War occupation were extremely strong, and when this was realised by the Warsaw Pact authorities, the German army speedily withdrew.
These resonances will still be very strong in Serbia to-day. - Yours, etc., Henry Bacik,
Ravensdale, Dundalk, Co Louth.
