Sir, - Amid the hype, the bickering and the questions of historical inaccuracies, deliberate or otherwise, I refer to a fairly serious issue which has as of yet, not been addressed the release date of the Michael Collins film directed by Neil Jordan. It was some months back, late summer perhaps, that Warner Brothers announced that the release of Michael Collins in Ireland would be postponed until a less politically sensitive time.
It was about one month ago, with great surprise, that I learned that the film would be on general release from November 8th. Perhaps someone could deprive me of my ignorance, and point out to me as to what exactly has changed in relation to the relevant political situation which favours the release of the film at this particular time.
It would seem to me that Warner Brothers have used the current and past state of the Peace Process as an excuse to achieve their own private aim - Warners's aim being to release Michael Collins just in time for the Christmas market. - Yours, etc.,
Ballinagee,
Enniskerry,
