Madam, - Recent correspondence you have published about wind power has been useful in identifying key issues and promoting a debate on energy.

A number of your correspondents have been referring to the graphs on the front page of our website www.eirgrid.com, which are updated throughout each day and show the demand for electricity and the output of wind generation connected to the power system.

To aid Mr Tony Blake (Letters, July 30th) and your other readers in their consideration of the issue, if they click on these graphs, they can access the detailed data, including time of the wind output or national demand measurement, and the number of megawatts.

The website also provides the user with the ability to download and examine this and other data going back over several years.

On the website, they can also get details of connected wind farms and of applications to connect, as well as economic and technical information and analysis.

As the independent electricity system operator, our role is the safe, secure and economic operation of the power system and we are pleased to supply factual data, and welcome enquiries at info@eirgrid.com  - Yours, etc,
