Sir, - It is disconcerting, even puzzling, to learn that almost on the eve of the commemoration of the bicentenary of the rising of 1798, the summer home of the man whohelped through his songs and ballads to perpetuate the memory of '98
should suddenly be demolished. I refer to the cottage of P.J. McCall, author of
Boolavogue, Kelly of Killane, In Sheskin Glen and other popular (though rarely broadcast) ballads. The house, lately holding a small McCall museum, stood near the cross of Rathangan in south Wexford. Perhaps someone in authority in Wexford could explain how this was allowed to happen? - Yours, etc., Richard Roche, Kincora Avenue, Dublin 3.
