Mass At Christ Church

Sir, - The celebration of the Roman Catholic Mass in Church of Ireland churches is not a complete innovation. So far as I am aware both Church of Ireland and Roman Catholic services have been celebrated in Trinity College Chapel on a regular basis for a number of years. Also, in the chapel in the new Adelaide Meath and National Children's hospital at Tallaght, services of both these traditions as well as the non-Conformist ones are held every week. The use of places of worship in this manner is a first step towards a bringing together of the churches in a universal Eucharist and neither Dean McCarthy nor anyone else should have to wait for a "jumping together", as suggested by Rev David Frazer (November 27th).

Any movement towards the time when the breaking of the Bread truly represents a full sharing in the Body of Christ can only be welcomed and encouraged. - Yours, etc., David Fitzpatrick,

Dublin 6W.
