Sir, - The much-heralded opening of the M50 to the airport was marked in a most peculiar fashion at the southern exit. Someone has thoughtfully erected enormous signposts warning drivers to expect a 20-minute delay when exiting. A rather useless expenditure, as one cannot leave the motorway at that stage and any frequent traveller is only too aware of this frustrating situation.
Perhaps the Taoiseach might care to drive along and experience the chaos at first hand? Then maybe something might be done to sort out the legal problems which have delayed the final phase of the motorway for three years. In the meantime, how about a simple solution? Put in an extra lane to help traffic exit and "freeflow". - Yours, etc.,
Stillorgan Wood, Blackrock, Co. Dublin.
