A chara, - Picture this. A serving Fianna Fail Minister is exposed by hard evidence revealing he had received almost a quarter of a million pounds for renovations to his house from a major businessman. The scandal is not based on suggestions, gossip or rumour, but hard facts, and is so serious that the Minister resigns almost immediately.
Soon afterwards, a leak appears suggesting that it is possible that a former Fine Gael Minister received £1m from a similar source a number of years ago. No fact, no names, no evidence. Just a suggestion at this stage.
Which of these stories do you think would receive the more focus? Which party would Dick Spring choose to stand by? Witnessing the manner in which Michael Lowry and Fine Gael have been let off the hook, does anyone else wonder what agenda is being followed and whether some people really care about getting at the root of the matter? - Is mise gan a lan mheas,
