Sir, - Too many people are getting married this year. For the second Saturday running, our Letters page has been swamped by couples whose only concern is to tell the world at large about their future plans (when the world at large couldn't care less). By so doing, they encroach on the Letters page to the extent that only five viewpoints were published last Saturday, and a laughable four the previous Saturday. This is getting precariously close to the level of correspondence to be found in lesser papers, whose readers don't have any opinions at all.
May I suggest that you take a firm stand in future, and inform would-be Social & Personal advertisers that their space on the Letters page is full up, and therefore you must refuse their custom? After all, our very own Bertie Ahern, the man to whom everyone looks up, has proved to us that lack of marriage vows need not stand in the way of a woman having a good time, with trips to Newgrange and China being part and parcel of just being Celia. - Yours, etc.,
D.K. Henderson, Castle Avenue, Clontarf, Dublin 3.
