Madam, - On a typical day in Dublin, any number of drivers of articulated lorries be seen talking on hand-held mobile phones while driving through the city streets.
The Minister for Transport, Mr Brennan, plans to introduce a penalty of two points for using a hand-held mobile phone while driving. Considering these behemoths' extra potential for devastation, especially in narrow city-centre streets crowded with pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists, perhaps the Minister would be wise to consider a higher penalty point allocation for lorry drivers. - Yours, etc.,
SHAUN DOYLE, Ormond Quay, Dublin 1.
