Sir, - Sunday was sunny and a beautiful. Were my daughter and I, along with other parents and their young children enjoying a pleasant afternoon on Sandycove beach? Well, no, actually. You see, seven young men parked their car right by the edge of the beach, jumped out and proceeded to drink cans of larger, swear loudly, generally intimidate everyone, shout and show off, with their car radio blaring at top volume. And there was nothing anyone could do - that is, until a lone garda rode up on his trusty motorbike and persuaded the oiks to leave.
The Lone Ranger and Tonto could not have done better! My thanks to that garda for a peaceful end to the day. - Yours, etc.,
Mary Burnham, Woodlawn Park, Mounttown, Co Dublin.
