Sir, - Over the past 12 months, I have noted very strong protests by Animal Rights Groups because of the inhumane way in which animals are transported abroad. Certainly all right minded people are against the ill treatment of animals.
However, over the past weeks we have seen thousands of Liberian people being shipped on unseaworthy vessels, in the stifling heat of the tropics, with poor ventilation, little or no food, a scarcity of water, and very poor sanitation facilities. Some neighbouring countries seem unable to assist.
Despite their unspeakable sufferings, I have not seen one letter of protest from individuals, organisations or countries. Is it that we just don't care? - Yours, etc.,
Salesian House,
