Sir, - Congratulations to all the town planners, contractors and others involved in the Leopardstown Road redevelopment. Traffic on the road is now considerably worse after the multi-million pound two-year feat of construction which is still incomplete. Why spend so much to achieve so little? We now have a road that is six feet, maybe 10 feet wider in places than we had two years ago. To avoid the road-widening being of any real use, there is a big "ghost island" box almost the entire width of the expanded portion virtually the entire length of the road! Why not put two lanes all the way from Foxrock Manor/ Avonmore up to White's Cross to allow traffic going to the left top flow properly? Why not get the filter lights working properly?
Finally, it is worth noting that we do, however, have lovely new granite walls almost the entire length of the road. A thought springs to mind. Maybe the whole thing had nothing to do with road re-development after all? - Yours, etc.,
Eamon O'Brien, Foxrock Manor, Dublin 18.
