Sir, - Neither Deputies Dick Spring, Ruairi Quinn, nor any religious, were to be seen at the opening of the Jim Larkin Exhibition in the National Library, Dublin (September 18th). The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, who spoke in such glowing terms of the pioneering trade unionist and his veterans of Parnell Square (some of whom he met as a young political activist), left us all perplexed as to why he never joined Labour.
All seemed not yet lost, however; his performance being so astute, we were now certain he was about to atone, abandon Fianna Fail on the spot, join Democratic Left and waltz out the door with Prionnsias De Rossa. - Yours, etc.,
Conor O'Kelly,
Cross Avenue, Blackrock, Co Dublin.
