Sir, - Maybe some day RTE and the Irish media generally will learn and use the difference between "bring" and "take". On the 9 o'clock news today, the newscaster told us that a member of the Irish army in South Lebanon was wounded and "brought" to hospital. Would that be a hospital in RTE in Donnybrook? Long way, isn't it? Good job he wasn't seriously wounded.
And just for the record (and admittedly being a bit pedantic), anyone hit by gunfire is wounded, not, as we are often informed, injured - although one can be injured by being wounded too. Try working that one out. But wounded or injured, one should be taken to hospital, not brought. Unless, of course RTE and the Irish newspapers have medical facilities on site. Maybe they do. Hangovers often warrant that kind of facility. - Yours, etc., Jack O'Connell,
Ballydehob, Co Cork.
