Sir, - A news item (May 10th) reports a proposal to the Western Health Board by my colleague J. J. Gilmartin that Galway requires a new hospital costing £60 million. How true! Apart from the provision of modern medical and surgical techniques, basic requirements such as beds are in short supply.
Unfortunately the financial situation is analogous. As "a fly on the wall" I surmise that the Department of Health will not produce that amount of money, as the relevant Minister is naturally concerned with health in his own county.
Lamentably - the Galway Minister is primarily interested in Telifis na Gaeltachta?
Perhaps another vote. Language versus Health? - Yours, etc.,
