Sir, - Mr Neil Kinnock, with the grand sounding title of European Transport Commissioner, was in Ireland recently to lecture on EU public transport policy which will see us into the next century. He backed the light rail proposals for Dublin, and seemed very sure that he had the answers to our traffic problems generally.
I can't help wondering, however, if the man whose catch cry when leader of the British Labour Party was "We're on our way," and who promptly snatched defeat from the jaws of certain victory in a general election, is the right man to advise on the direction of others, after his own certainty became a case of "we've lost our way". Yours, etc.,
