Kindness of strangers in the snow

Madam, – I was trapped by Monday’s snow while on a business trip to Dublin. It took me four hours to get from my office to the hotel where I am staying (and, now, for longer than I had intended).

During the (nightmare) drive, my car got stuck on three occasions. Each time, total strangers helped push the car to get me going again, even without any request from me.

I wish to thank these strangers most sincerely. In these dark days for Ireland this level of community spirit, help to a stranger and willingness to pull together are a tonic. It is just what we need.

May I nominate for the “Person of the Year” – the ordinary people of Dublin. – Yours, etc,

PAT BREEN,
