Sir, - I wish to associate myself, together with a number of my fellow past pupils, principally Terry de Valera, Brian Kernan and Sean Mombrun with the sentiments expressed by the Blackrock College student David Watchorn (The Irish Times, June 20th) and by John W. Miley in his letter of July 7th.
The Jubilee Hall has everlasting memories for me, particularly of Gilbert and Sullivan operettas and of my participation in Father Corless's orchestra, not to mention other important functions (including examinations) over a long number of years. Terry Dev played leading roles in many of the operettas.
I sincerely hope that "the Hall" will be retained and refurbished for the benefit of the students for many years to come. It is unthinkable that this fine building, which is a landmark in the college grounds, should be demolished or in any way altered from its present architectural significance. - Yours, etc.,
Frank W. Meldon PC, Glenart Avenue, Blackrock, Co Dublin.
