Madam, – Would someone, somewhere please volunteer a rational explanation why Israel is currently banning the import of pasta, lentils, toilet paper, cheese, toothpaste and toothbrushes into Gaza (The Irish Times, March 16th).
I could well understand restricting the entry of cluster bombs, phosphorous weapons or even airburst shells, which were used by the Israelis in Qana and Gaza. The latter are shells which burst in the air, showering shrapnel downwards, decapitating or vertically tearing their victims in half.
