Sir, - May a heretic from the province of Ulster be permitted to make a couple of carping comments on David Quinn's article about the new Dublin cardinal (The Irish Times, January 22nd).

Mr Quinn states that Cardinal Logue was archbishop of Dublin. Quite untrue. He was successively: Bishop of Raphoe (1879-1887); Coadjutor Archbishop of Armagh (March-December, 1887); Archbishop of Armagh (1887-1924).

He received the red hat in 1893.

It would seem that David Quinn has confused Michael Logue with Edward McCabe, who was Archbishop of Dublin 1879-1885 and was made cardinal in 1882. -Yours, etc.,
