Sir, - My husband and I recently returned from our twelfth trip to Ireland, motoring and staying in B and Bs. During our stay we found that the driving in Ireland has become extremely dangerous, much more so than in previous years.

The Irish driver seems to have an extraordinary devil-may-care attitude on narrow winding roads where overtaking takes on the danger of a game of chicken.

Being confronted with a possible head-on collision plus several near side-swipes too close for comfort curtailed our pleasure and our trips to Donegal and Dingle.

If we, who love Ireland and her people and devote our vacations to visiting it, are thinking seriously of ending our trips there in order to avoid death on an Irish road, perhaps other travellers with a less tenuous connection are thinking the same way.
